New firmware released for EF-NZ (v1.20) and EF-FX (v1.60) adapters.

A new firmware (v1.20) has just been released for Fringer EF-NZ adapter. We believe this version will fix the most of compatibility issues of all EF/EFS mount lenses made by Canon and major third parties. Incompatible lens would be very rare. If there still be compatibility issues after upgrade, please let us know.

The main improvement includes:

2020/3/20

Version 1.20

  1. Fixed compatible issues with some of EF/EFS lenses, including (and may not limited to):
    • EF50/1.4 (some early version)
    • EF70-200/2.8L (some early version)
    • Tamron SP 10-24/3.5-4.5 B001
    • Tamron SP 28-75/2.8 XR Di LD
    • Sigma APO 800mm f/5.6 EX DC HSM
    • Sigma 50-150/2.8 EX Di HSM
  1. Pinpoint AF has been fixed for
    • Tamron SP 35/1.4 Di USD
  2. Added support for lenses without electronic contacts. Unlike Nikon FTZ adapter, when installed on Fringer EF-NZ adapter, lenses without electronic contacts also get the green square focus indication at the focus point position. When this function greatly helps a lot of manual lens users, it has a drawback. The Non-CPU Lens Data menu item doesn’t work anymore. Without correct focal length data, the IBIS function of certain Z cameras, e.g. Z6 and Z7, doesn’t work properly. To fix this, we added manual lens focal length input function.

Read the release notes or user's manual to understand the usage of this new function.

Meanwhile, we have also released a new firmware, i.e. v1.60, for our gold prize winner product Fringer EF-FX Pro II and EF-FX II.

Version 1.60

  1. Added following lenses to the tested and optimized lens list:
    • TAMRON SP 28-75/2.8 XR Di LD
    • TAMRON SP 70-200/2.8 Di VC USD
    • SIGMA 85/1.4 EX DG HSM
    • SIGMA 50-150/2.8 EX DC HSM
  2. Fixed compatibility issues with X-T200 camera. Be noted, since X-T200 is equipped with a non X-Trans CMOS, its AF performance is poorer when using EF mount lenses. Please use MF mode if necessary.

Please download the firmware file and release notes from our official website.

For old version, i.e. Gen.1 products EF-FX Pro and EF-FX, the new firmware (v3.30) only fixes XT200 compatiblity issue. Because the hardware resources have been used up, there won't be any update including new lens data.
